Where We Are One:
The New Reality of the Kingdom of God-Kingdom in your Midst
This week’s message by Eric Wilson will be from the text of Luke 17: 20-21.
Adult Bible Classes UPDATE
The class entitled “Resurrection of the body from the Biblical perspective” will meet in AC 290.
This class will begin THIS WEEK, September 8. Lesson one is titled “The Body as Part of God’s Creation.”
David Dowdey will facilitate for the month of September, then John Wilson will teach the remainder of the semester.
The class entitled “Life Together” will meet in AC 270 with Regan and Robby Schaffer coordinating.
The primary focus of this class is to build community with families and members as they experience various life stages and phases. The class will be centered around fellowship, sharing and prayer. Come for snacks at 9:00 and class will begin at 9:15 (to allow time for families dropping off kids to class). All ages and stages welcome!
Our All-Church Fall Potluck-Plus will be immediately after church on Sept. 15. The main dish will be provided, but we ask that you please bring a side dish and a dessert to share, and drop them off in the Sandbar before church. We will have seating inside the Sandbar for people who are sun-sensitive, and shaded seating on the Sandbar balcony for everyone else. Since the church will be providing the main dish, a collection box will be available for donations if you choose to contribute.

School on Wheels
For the next two Sundays (9/8 & 9/15) we will have a big basket on the bench at the right door of Elkins for SCHOOL ON WHEELS school supplies. Envelopes with checks inside made out to School On Wheels are also acceptable. Our congregation is always generous as we remember those students in Kindergarten – High School who are homeless. SOW distributes thousands of backpacks each fall filled with school supplies for homeless students. Headquartered in Ventura, but formerly in Malibu, SOW serves homeless students in Ventura, L.A. and Orange counties. Yes, some right here in Malibu.
If you are interested in serving one or two hours per week as a one-on-one tutor for a homeless child, please go directly to the website at www.schoolonwheels.org for more information about volunteering. Phone # in Ventura is 805-641-1678 for further information please contact Betty Glass at email@example.com. Thank you for helping out.
