Humans of UCC: The Love Family

Love FamilyWe will miss you so much but look forward to the new opportunities and adventures waiting for you in Oklahoma.

1. What has been your family’s favorite memory at Pepperdine?

From Haven: Playing an angel in the Christmas nativity play.

From Haley: Haven’s baby shower, small groups, house groups, and the Deck the Halls Christmas Competition.

From Zach: How do I pick my favorite memory over the 15 years? The ocean view and the people are what I will miss the most. My sports medicine, ministry, and marriage/family therapy profs and classes, Heidelberg, friends for a lifetime, learning to transition from a student to young adult and new parent of two, working for and learning from an amazing church, elders, ministry staff, Ken Durham, Rich Little and Al Sturgeon. Lastly leading worship once a month for at least the past 10 years, the many praise team members I’ve sung with, and beautiful places I’ve gotten to worship at with this church family.

From Eden: Providing baby therapy to the many college students and church members (The winner of the most baby therapy sessions is Linda Truschke “LT”)

2. What are you most looking forward to about moving to Oklahoma?

Being closer to family, football-cheering for the Cowboys! (Dallas and Oklahoma State), proximity to Chick-fil-A, and thunderstorms!

3. What will you miss most about our church?

We will miss all the sweet people who supported us through student life, as newlyweds, and into parenthood. This church was truly our “family away from family!” These people will always hold a special place in our hearts. Did I say the ocean view and the people?

4. What can we pray for your family in this time of moving and transition?

Unity of our family, sadness in saying goodbye, finding real friendships and a welcoming community and church family, and finding a meaningful way to impact the student population.
