Out of the Office
I am traveling to Utah today for a personal retreat and will return on Friday. I scheduled this time for reflection, planning, and gaining focus for the fall sermon series and the year to come.  I appreciate your prayers while I am out.

Michaela Wall Update & Thanks
Michaela Wall shared her thanks with the church and missions committee as well as a wonderful report from her summer mission trip to Greece with LST.  Her report can be seen HERE.

Summer in Stauffer Continues
Summer in Stauffer continues this Sunday, but it will be the next to last time we worship in Stauffer Chapel this summer. Classes for all ages are at 9am and the worship assembly follows at 10:15am. Dusty Breeding will teach a combined class for adults & teens in Stauffer Chapel on the subject of Abraham & Sarah’s Faith.  The morning sermon will come from Hebrews 10:32-12:3 and is titled, “Endurance in the Face of Failure.”

Praise Team List
We are developing a list of potential praise team members for our Sunday morning services. If you are willing to share your singing gift with the church family in this way, please let me (Al) know and indicate whether you sing soprano, alto, tenor, and/or bass.

Kitty Atkinson Memorial
A celebration of Kitty Atkinson’s life will be held on September 24, which would have been Kitty’s 90th birthday. The details of the memorial service are still in development.

King’s Kamp Registration:
King’s Kamp is a week-long Bible camp for boys and girls entering 4th through 8th grades in the fall of 2017.  It is scheduled for July 30 through August 5 (http://www.kingskamp.org). Late registration is $370. The cost for additional campers from the same family is $299 each.  King’s Kamp is limited to the first 120 registrations.

Join us as the Breeding’s Condo (24358 Baxter) to honor our graduating youth group members on Monday evening, August 7, from 7-8:30pm. This will be a time to share a word of encouragement as our students head off to college. Please bring a snack or dessert to share.

The redesigned church office is complete and looks fantastic! We will do an open house for the congregation on August 20, but please feel free to drop by and check it out before then.  It is much more open, welcoming, functional, and “church”-focused and features artwork from Avery Falkner, photography from Cecily Breeding, and woodworking from Teller Emmer.  It also has a meeting space and white board for prayer/study groups, Bible classes, and committee/team meetings.

Youth Group Serving the Homeless Community
Today, the youth group has the opportunity to serve lunch to the homeless of Malibu. The group will meet at Dusty’s house at 10:45am, prepare lunch, and then deliver to the parking lot of the Malibu Library. The group will return no later than 12:30pm.

Youth Group Dodgers Game!
On Sunday, July 23rd the youth group will be going to a Dodgers game! NOTE: this is not the original date on the calendar. The Dodgers will be playing the Braves at 1:10pm. The group will leave from the Breedings’ condo (24358 Baxter Dr.) around noon. The cost for the trip will be $20. Lunch will be provided. The trip will be chaperoned by the interns. RSVP by Friday, July 21st to Nathan Brackins at nbrackins@harding.edu.

Zion Craig ThompsonNew Arrival!
We rejoice with the Thompson family in the birth of Zion Craig Thompson, who arrived on Saturday, July 1. Zion tipped the scales at 9 lbs, 9 oz, and stretched out at 22 inches long. Everyone is healthy and happy! A “meal train” has been set up for the Thompsons at https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/ylk2vk.

Next Year’s All-Church Campout
This year’s church camp out was a great success!  The planning team has already made reservations at the Ventura Ranch KOA for next year, May 25 and 26.  For those of you that would prefer to stay in a cabin ($175 per night), there are some available in the area where the group camp will be.  Contact Cindy Morgan (cindy.morgan@pepperdine.edu for details.  These will fill quickly so reserve soon if interested.

Young Adult Campfire & Taco Bar at the Warwars
The Warwars will host the next monthly young adult get-together on Saturday evening, July 15, which will include a campfire and taco bar at their home in Moorpark! Please mark this fun night on your calendars.
